This is an individual assignment which will work on the basic application of building services. Students are introduced to the four (4) major types of services available, which are essential to make a building function. Each student will be assigned to design the systems required from a building plan given. Firstly, they need to understand how systems in building services work and later apply them by drawing the systems in the plans.

Students will be given a building plan to work with. They are expected to demonstrate their understanding of building services by proposing and designing appropriate systems for the building which include:

i) electrical supply system

ii) cold water and hot water supply system

iii) sewage and sanitary system

iv) storm water and drainage system

Roof plan will need to be established from the floor plan given. Students may choose from these types of pitched roof available: This assignment will require drawings and diagrams that include specifications, symbols, legends, images, texts and whichever information deem relevant to describe the planning and installation of all the building services learnt. Additionally, students may also quote specific clauses from the Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL) 1984 or other relevant Acts, Laws or guidelines which relate to the proposed systems into their presentation boards.
